Bloomsbury began as a tiny bookshop in a quaint building in On Lan Street in 1983, specializing in law books. Over the years, as we grew, we expanded our range of stock to include fiction, biographies, travel, history, reference and business books. In 2003, we opened a children's book section with an excellent range of fiction and non-fiction for all ages from toddlers to teenagers. Our Saturday morning storytelling sessions became very popular and introduced many local children (and parents) to new and exciting titles.

Unfortunately, our move in 2006 to smaller premises in Hutchison House meant that we could no longer maintain the children's book section in the bookshop. Over the period, we kept a core selection in stock at our head office in Sheung Wan, while we promoted general reference and children's books to schools and libraries via book fairs and direct ordering services. In July 2009, the consolidation of the children's book sections of Bloomsbury Books Ltd and The Commercial Press meant that yet a wider range of quality English children's titles by renowned writers will now be available through the Commercial Press retail outlets all over Hong Kong.

|
In October, The Commercial Press Causeway Bay Book Centre launched a newly expanded children's book section filled with a good selection of books of different genres for children from toddlers to young adults. There will be titles by authors Bloomsbury always carries, with the addition of many new highly rated authors. Ms Christa Tam, who has been serving you at Bloomsbury, will continue to help you with your choice and orders.
